On Saturday 2nd March we opened a new window display of pictures by Jonathan Gibbs, and despite our usual habit of not having a launch party, Jonathan promised to bring his guitar along, so how could we refuse. He also produced these gorgeous invitation cards. Please call in if you’re passing. Go out of your way if you’re not. We’d love to see you. Continue reading “Paintings From My Shed”
We’ve a windowful of wonderful engravings from Beatrice Forshall for June and July. Many were used to illustrate her new book, a glorious celebration of life on Earth and a poignant reminder of the life we’ve extinguished. Continue reading “The Book Of Vanishing Species”

Eggardon Hill is an Iron Age hill fort to the north-east of Bridport in Dorset. I live on a farm half-way up it; the hill dominates the landscape behind us and in front there is a far-reaching view across Lyme Bay to Devon. My studio looks directly out on to Eggardon, the window at the back perfectly frames it. Continue reading “An Eggardon Summer”

And she also wrote a blogpost… Continue reading “Flowers From A London Garden”
A new window display for the merry month of May. It’s an exhibition of linocuts by Linda Farquharson. Images of the Goddess. Reflections of her various aspects. To take this photograph I had to wait for a passing truck to block out all the more prosaic reflections of the street. Continue reading “The Earth Goddess”

I drove to work early but I arrived late. I’d forgotten about all the extra school-run traffic. It was 9:30 when I got to Notting Hill Gate and my ticket was for 10 o’clock at Piccadilly. I walked through the park, dodging cyclists, dazzled by trees, energised by the green space on our doorstep that I so often overlook, thinking I must do this more often, but knowing I wouldn’t. I should’ve been working. It was 10:10 when I got to the Royal Academy. Continue reading “The Armada”
