El Botero is in Toledo, at the northern end of Calle de San Marcos. Marcos I am reliably informed means frames, so an auspicious location. Maybe St Mark is the patron saint of picture framers? It seems unlikely. But El Botero is certainly a fortunate spot.
Everything falls into place. The piano music is identified. Food magically appears, unfamiliar delicacies, pig’s armpit and octopus! And extremely aromatic gin & tonics, each one different to the next.
¡HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I’d be VERY keen on slurping one of those.
They were the most flavoursome G&Ts I ever tasted, with cucumber and angostura and mysterious secret ingredients. Cheers!
I had one that sounds similar at Fifteen, the JO restaurant down here, they do winter lunch for 19 quid – but we had g & t’s and some bread & olives and it ended up being 30 each!! Delicious though.
We have a new JO Recipease in Notting Hill Gate though its delights are still to be discovered.
