Autumn Paths, First Pond

I walk on the Heath, swim on the Heath, meet family and friends on the Heath, watch the birds, frequent the Parliament Hill café and many benches. My particular patch is defined by the Overground stations at Hampstead Heath and Gospel Oak, around the mixed pond and Parliament Hill.

I can’t imagine London without it and probably started painting there so that I would have even more reason to go there and stay there.

I have been painting it consistently for the last two years, which coincides with the birth of my first grandchild and the war in Gaza. By simply observing, painting gave me a way to be in those contradictions and think about how extraordinary life is.
